Bloomington native and Assistant State's Attorney Mark Messman says he's looking to run for McLean County State's Attorney.
The republican candidate has worked as a prosecutor in many high profile cases and has coordinated prosecution efforts through agencies including the Bloomington Police, McLean County Sheriff's Department, FBI, The United States Attorney's Office, and the Illinois State Police.
Messman says one of his main goals is to maintain relationships with authorties and make the community a safer place for all.
"I have a track record of being tough on crime at the same time, remaining fair, professional, and respectful to all in the criminal justice system," said Messman. "A State's Attorney must always remember that he works not only for the victims of crimes but for the peace and dignity of the community as a whole."
Messman says that the election is a way to give back to the community and people who have inspired him.
The primary election will take place March 20, 2012.
