Wesleyan University killing case back in court - The Salem News

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. ? A state prosecutor is expected to provide an update on the psychiatric evaluation of a North Shore man charged in the killing of a Wesleyan University student at the Connecticut campus in 2009.

State's Attorney Timothy Liston and a lawyer for Stephen Morgan have been waiting for the evaluation results, which may determine whether Morgan was mentally ill at the time of the alleged killing. Liston is expected to give the update during a hearing Tuesday at Middletown Superior Court.

Morgan, formerly of Marblehead, is charged with murder in the May 2009 shooting death of 21-year-old Johanna Justin-Jinich of Timnath, Colo., at a campus bookstore caf�.

Morgan's attorney, Richard Brown, says he may pursue of defense of mental disease or defect.
